Meals on Wheels 1993 - present One of the most rewarding things I have ever done is to be a driver for Meals On Wheels. I drive the Tinicum route once a month. We pick the meals up at the Briarleaf nursing home and deliver throughout rural Upper Bucks. This is such an important service to our residents, especially those who live outside of towns and in isolated areas. Meals on Wheels allows senior citizens to remain in their homes, rather than relocating to nursing homes. It also provides welcome social contact for those who are homebound. We first began in 1993 in an unofficial way with a few people making meals and , delivering them to our neighbors. After a year or so we became the official Meals on Wheels- Tinicum, picking up the meals at Doylestown Hospital and delivering them to residents in Tinicum Township. We are now part of the Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks. They always need drivers and I encourage you to give this worthy cause a try. Call Meals on Wheels of Central Bucks at 215-345-6065. |
